I knocked on the door
/I knocked on the door and there was no answer
I had to let myself in
Find my way to the kitchen
Grab a glass of water
And settle in on the couch with my journal
The house was quiet
There was no one here but me
It was time to start tending
To my heart
To my mind
To my body
I was hoping when I knocked that someone would answer
Holding the key to get me back on track
But I see now
I am the only one who can do that for myself
I must steady my own ship
Find my way home
Know that were I land, I belong
And that there is no better time than now
To start taking care of me
And so I begin
Sipping my glass of water
Pouring words into my journal
Remembering there are many doors I can knock on
And that I get to choose which ones I go to
The above words inspired by the writing prompt in the Journaling Tips Soul Circle Podcast. Prompts are also provided each Monday in the Write Together class.
