Welcome to the porch. Where you can arrive exactly as you are. Come on, settle in.

There will be days you will walk in with a heart full of joy. Life is going swimmingly and gratitude is overflowing. Your heart is beaming. Your happiness is contagious. Laughter fills the porch as we share stories, listen to our favorite tunes, dream about what’s to come. The night feels like it can go on forever.

There will be other days where you will arrive with an overwhelming feeling of sadness. Unsure if you should even sit and stay. You feel the weight of the world on your shoulders and don’t want to bring that burden to anyone else.

There will be other days where life is what it is. You are stuck in that in between where it isn’t all rainbows and butterflies, yet it isn’t all doom and gloom. You feel you have nothing much to contribute. You feel a little lost in where you are going to go next.

The porch is here for all it. It is a place to cozy into when you don’t know where else to turn. It is a place where you can arrive exactly as you are. Deep in sadness or joy or even standing in that in between. The porch is here for you

It is a place that reminds you that you are never alone. We can celebrate all the goodness and also have space for the tears. The porch is here for you. No matter where you are in the moment.

So come on by. Let’s be in the moments of life together.

Emma just turned ONE! Can you believe it? Dustin and I can’t. It feels like just yesterday that I went to the Doctor for my final appointment on Wednesday thinking I would be going to the hospital on Friday to get induced. Little did I know that at that final appointment my Doctor would tell me to head to the hospital immediately and that we would be meeting our baby girl the next day.

On this episode of the Blue Canoe Dustin and I talk about our first year of parenting. The highs & lows. The moments of complete joy and the times you doubt yourself wondering if you will make it through. It has been an epic journey for sure and one we are excited to share with you.
