moments unfolding

Reflecting on the memories
Sharing stories about our camera adventures
The rain falling
Ducking into a little bar to chat
A warm glass of brandy warming our chilled bones
The streets of Brooklyn guiding us
Train after train, after train to get home
Lost in thoughts
Happiness abounding
Grateful for my ability to take a risk
Step outside of my comfort zone
Let the world unfold in front of me

Love Notes Post Card Project

At times it can feel like a chore going to pick up the mail because you know exactly what is in there.  But what if that changed?  What if a hand written post card sat nestled in between the bills?  Words written down on paper for you to hold in your hands and soak in.  A little sliver of sunshine arriving unexpectedly, just for you.

What if you had the opportunity to bring this sunshine to someone else's mailbox?  Picking up a pen and writing your own words down.  Sharing pieces of your story and words from your heart for them to soak in.  Would you want to be a part of it?

Social media is great for staying in touch and easily communicating with friends, but there is something so lovely about holding a real piece of paper in your hands.  Seeing someone else's handwriting and feasting on what they h ave shared brings the story to a different level.

These thoughts are what sparked the idea of for the Love Notes Post Card Project.  Words shared on a post card, mailed to someone you may or may not know.  Hearts opening, sunshine arriving, connections unfolding.

This three week project brings the opportunity for sunshine to be sent through the mail by responding to a simple writing prompt.  Head on over to here to find out more about it and to sign up.  I hope you will join in. The project begins August 19th.

Post Cards

While in Toronto over the weekend I found some really cool Post Cards and fell in love with the cities bright colored mail boxes.  I was sure to write out a post card about our trip and drop into one of these fabulous mailboxes.  I cannot wait until it arrives at my door.  This is how I document the trips I take, writing post cards home about what we did, what we enjoyed most, and what memories we want to remember forever.

There are so many different post cards to choose from, which is what I love most about post cards.  If you are on a family trip you are bound to find a slew in a local gift shop or right in the hotel you are staying at.

Also check out these darling post cards created by my friends Liz Lamoreux and Kelly Barton.

They are the masterminds behind Chickadee Road and have such lovely offerings in their shop. Head on over there to check it out.  Their post cards are perfect for the Love Note Project.

I hope you will join in on the second round of the Love Notes Post Card Project.  I would love for you to be a part of it.  If you are interested be sure to sign up over HERE.  We will be starting on Sunday, August 19th.

Love Notes Post Card Project - Begins Again

Summer is flying by quickly, and my wish before it comes to a close is to host Love Notes - The Post Card Project again.  So many beautiful postcards and words were shared through the mail during th initial launch and I look forward to watching it all unfold again.  I hope you will join us.

Here is how it is going to work:
  • The project will run for 3 weeks, August 19th - September 8th
  • Each Sunday, starting on August 19th I will send out a small writing prompt.  You will respond to that prompt on a postcard.
  • Then before the week is over simply drop your postcard into the mailbox for the individual I assign you.
  • You will be mailing one postcard a week to the same person.
What you will need to participate:
  • Three postcards (bought or handmade)
  • Three stamps
I choose postcards for this project because they are small, bites sized pieces of information.  There is minimal space on them, which makes it a less overwhelming space to fill.  The writing prompts I provide you will be easy to respond to in that space.

Postcards can be easily found or made.  You can use an index card or cut up a piece of watercolor paper.  I love collecting postcards from all the places that I travel to.  They are great reminders of where I have been.  I also love receiving postcards in the mail.

I hope that you will be a part of the Love Notes Post Card Project.  Each post card sent will brighten up the days of not only the individual receiving it, but the multiple hands it will pass through before arriving at it's destination.

If you are interested in participating please go HERE to sign up.  Please note:  If you partipated in the last Love Notes project you will have to sign up again if you want to be a part of this series.

the moments

Life is about the moments
The unexpected things that happen between the plans you make
The small pockets of time that lead you down a new path
Connecting with individuals you just met
Laughing over a shared experience
Creating something from a few minutes spent together

Riding your bike to the lighthouse than jumping into the sea for a swim
Sitting along the Hudson, talking about life and all that you hope it will be
Finding a lake when you decide to take the long way home
Sitting along the waters edge sharing cookies and stories
Going out for drinks with friends and meeting the love of your life

The moments you did not plan for
Become the memories that you will never forget
Keeping an open mind and an open heart allows these moments to happen
Each one created in it's own time unfolding as it is meant to
A life time of moments filling us up and weaving us together
