Post Cards

While in Toronto over the weekend I found some really cool Post Cards and fell in love with the cities bright colored mail boxes.  I was sure to write out a post card about our trip and drop into one of these fabulous mailboxes.  I cannot wait until it arrives at my door.  This is how I document the trips I take, writing post cards home about what we did, what we enjoyed most, and what memories we want to remember forever.

There are so many different post cards to choose from, which is what I love most about post cards.  If you are on a family trip you are bound to find a slew in a local gift shop or right in the hotel you are staying at.

Also check out these darling post cards created by my friends Liz Lamoreux and Kelly Barton.

They are the masterminds behind Chickadee Road and have such lovely offerings in their shop. Head on over there to check it out.  Their post cards are perfect for the Love Note Project.

I hope you will join in on the second round of the Love Notes Post Card Project.  I would love for you to be a part of it.  If you are interested be sure to sign up over HERE.  We will be starting on Sunday, August 19th.

Love Notes Post Card Project - Begins Again

Summer is flying by quickly, and my wish before it comes to a close is to host Love Notes - The Post Card Project again.  So many beautiful postcards and words were shared through the mail during th initial launch and I look forward to watching it all unfold again.  I hope you will join us.

Here is how it is going to work:
  • The project will run for 3 weeks, August 19th - September 8th
  • Each Sunday, starting on August 19th I will send out a small writing prompt.  You will respond to that prompt on a postcard.
  • Then before the week is over simply drop your postcard into the mailbox for the individual I assign you.
  • You will be mailing one postcard a week to the same person.
What you will need to participate:
  • Three postcards (bought or handmade)
  • Three stamps
I choose postcards for this project because they are small, bites sized pieces of information.  There is minimal space on them, which makes it a less overwhelming space to fill.  The writing prompts I provide you will be easy to respond to in that space.

Postcards can be easily found or made.  You can use an index card or cut up a piece of watercolor paper.  I love collecting postcards from all the places that I travel to.  They are great reminders of where I have been.  I also love receiving postcards in the mail.

I hope that you will be a part of the Love Notes Post Card Project.  Each post card sent will brighten up the days of not only the individual receiving it, but the multiple hands it will pass through before arriving at it's destination.

If you are interested in participating please go HERE to sign up.  Please note:  If you partipated in the last Love Notes project you will have to sign up again if you want to be a part of this series.

the moments

Life is about the moments
The unexpected things that happen between the plans you make
The small pockets of time that lead you down a new path
Connecting with individuals you just met
Laughing over a shared experience
Creating something from a few minutes spent together

Riding your bike to the lighthouse than jumping into the sea for a swim
Sitting along the Hudson, talking about life and all that you hope it will be
Finding a lake when you decide to take the long way home
Sitting along the waters edge sharing cookies and stories
Going out for drinks with friends and meeting the love of your life

The moments you did not plan for
Become the memories that you will never forget
Keeping an open mind and an open heart allows these moments to happen
Each one created in it's own time unfolding as it is meant to
A life time of moments filling us up and weaving us together

colorful happiness

So many rays of sunshine have arrived in my mailbox thanks to the Love Notes Post Card Project
My heart is overflowing with gratitude and joy
I am so thankful for each individual who participated
I loved seeing the photos of post cards sent
As well as receiving these stunning cards

I love thinking about the people who saw these post cards before I did
Thinking how these bright colors, stunning photos, and beautiful words
Were bound to make them smile
Love, getting sent through the mail
A dark day a little bit brighter

I am looking forward to hosting this again very soon
Be sure you are on the mailing list so you know when it begins
And if you participated in the initial launch I would love for you to share your love notes story here
Send me over and email (lovenotesjb@gmail.com)
And we will get it all worked out

There is something special about sitting down and writing words on paper
Sending them off to someone you may not know
And being left to the wonder how your words affected someone's day
There is magic in the doing and in the not knowing
That is what the Love Notes Post Card project is all about

beauty is within us

We can quickly look at others lives and think they are so perfect, so right, so organized
But we are only getting a glimpse at their stories
We do not know what is underneath
The scars and heartache
Wounds that haven't healed and struggles that can feel like quicksand
It can be easy to see only the good things
To wish for the perceived perfection
But their is no such thing as perfection
There is only perception and our inablitiy
To accept and appreciate the divine beauty that lives withn each of us
